Standard Hotel Miami Beach

The Standard Miami vibes
The Standard Miami vibes

It’s hard not to instantly see the sex appeal of the Standard’s spa property in Miami Beach. First André Balazs took dusty motels and office buildings in L.A. and turned them into must-stay meccas; with the Standard Miami, he vamped up the time-honored spa. The Standard Spa Miami Beach is an enclave of tranquility and luxury,  just 15 15-minute walk from the bustle of

Ocean Drive. Come for a massage and a scrub; stay for an all-night club adventure. If you’ve ever done South Beach, you know it’s a choose-your-own-adventure type of place.

The funky, coed Turkish hammam is one of the best-known features of the property’s impressive spa. The spa mixes old and new, combining up-to-the-second treatments with ancient massage traditions. Visitors can take a respite from the South Beach scene and indulge in any number of pleasures, from a Turkish hammam “Rub ‘n’ Scrub” to a dip in the sound pool. Coming with a friend? Couples can indulge in a joint scrub session, with plenty of privacy behind thick rubber curtains, or just indulge in sprawling tubs. Scrub-a-dub-dub…you know the rest

The guestroom decor at the Miami property is subtler than at the other Pop Art-inspired Standard hotels, but the amenities and spaces still stay fabulous. Expect old Miami Art Deco glamour blended with cool colors and eye-pleasing patterns. It’s all about staying in the sun, anyway, and the Standard’s infinity pool overlooking the water doesn’t disappoint.

Also worth noting: the Friday night yoga/sunbathing event called “h20m.” Visitors get the chance to work on their practice with a team of yogis, DJs, and live musicians. The event includes additional access to the hammam, aroma steam room, cedar sauna, and soaking tubs, all of which are musts for a water-loving Standard guest. Service at the property is hyperattentive and tailored to the guest; when the Standard does a spa, would you expect anything less? Let loose, let go, and let the sunshine in.

REVIEWS

“Everything! Very comfortable room with a full bar, they upgraded our room for free for a new wedding. The staff was nice. I loved that there were plenty of vegan options and all were very tasty! The spa and the pool and all the facilities were great, and the view is amazing!”

Maria, Atlanta

“Beautiful property, would highly recommend. I loved the overall trees throughout the area, the pool is gorgeous, drink hot tub, fitness center, friendly staff, convenient cafe, free wifi, delicious room service”

Richard, New York

“Everyone was really sweet and welcoming. They let me keep my bearded dragon on-premises. I took all my stuff up to the room and organized it. Cleanroom with superb decor. They treated us like family and recommended restaurants and activities. Parking was very limited so you’ll probably have to pay for valet. Check out the times!

Louise, Detroit

“Great place, I love swimming and you can swim in the dock at your own risk, apparently there is a tide, but I loved it, nice and deep warm water with fish to see, right beside the fancy boats. The hotel is well spaced out with plenty to do, including a fantastic spa, yoga classes, pool, fire pit, hammocks, and much more. I have already booked to go back”

Arancia, Madrid

“Loved everything! We had a marvelous room, facing the exterior, not the garden courtyard and this was perfect for us as it gave us added privacy. Our Large terrace room came with a bathtub which we also took advantage of. The bed was super comfy. Not too soft nor too hard, just right. The sheets were soft and good pillows and the duvet was of feather materials. Mini-Bar was one of the best I’d ever seen! Love the Yoga courses, especially the morning outdoor sunrise session, excellent teachers! Even tho I am an ex-Miami native, I didn’t want to leave the hotel too often, I felt like I was on a staycation… I’ll be back!”

Tom, Los Angeles

“After a few days in South Beach, a change of scenery to The Standard Spa was a welcome treat. It’s a quick trip (by foot, bike, or car) to Miami Beach and downtown, but you won’t want to leave. The Standard is a little oasis, with good food, drinks, a beautiful spa, and comfortable rooms. It gets a bit noisy on the weekend, so light sleepers will want to take advantage of the hotel-provided earplugs, but throughout the first half of the week, it was quiet and serene. The staff is lovely and so accommodating. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when in Miami.”
