Miami is a city that always knows how to party, especially during the famous Art Basel event and New Year’s Eve celebrations. For those who are lucky enough to attend Art Basel, there are a number of fabulous hotels to stay at, including The Sagamore and The Ritz Carlton, which are both located in South Beach. These hotels are not only beautiful, but their owners are also some of the biggest art collectors in Miami, making them the perfect place to stay for art enthusiasts.
Other top hotels that come highly recommended include the Setai, Tides, Victor, W Hotel, Gansevoort, Shaun, and Fontainebleau, although they may be difficult to secure during the busy Art Basel season. For those who can’t find a room in South Beach, the Viceroy on Brickell is a great option.
During Art Basel, there are plenty of parties and cocktails to enjoy in the Design District, and art can be found everywhere in Miami Beach. The best way to get around is on foot, as the beach is usually very crowded during this time.
When it comes to dining, there are several excellent options to choose from, including Nobu at Shore Club, Casa Tua for the best Italian food ever, Blue Door, Touch, and Prime 112, which is always packed with people and has a great vibe. Be sure to make a reservation in advance, as even with reservations you may have to wait awhile.
Don’t miss out on Joe’s Stone Crabs, a South Beach institution, and the Pool Deck Bar at The Standard Hotel, which is the perfect place to hang out on weekends for lunch. Other great bars include the Setai Hotel Bar and the bar at the Fontainebleau. For Italian cuisine, head to Il Gabbiano in Downtown Miami, or visit the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables for a fancy brunch during the holidays.
When it comes to nightlife, Miami has plenty of options. Our favorite clubs include Mokai on Thursdays for house music, Mynt on Fridays, and Sundance at Set on Sundays. The W Hotel is a cool option for New Year’s Eve celebrations, as is the Shore Club or Fontainebleau Poolside. Walking along Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue is also a popular activity on New Year’s Eve, with many hotels offering drinks, champagne, music, and dancing in their lounge areas.
It’s important to be cautious and hold hands with your partner, as the area is usually very crowded. If you arrive late in the day, arrive before 5 pm to avoid carrying your luggage around with you. During the week, the most important nightclubs are Mansion, Set, Mynt, and W Hotel Wall on Fridays, Liv on Saturdays, Nikki Beach on Sundays, and Tantra on Mondays.
With so much to see and do in Miami during Art Basel and New Year’s Eve, it’s important to plan ahead and make reservations early to secure the best hotels and dining options.
